All children need love, but for troubled children, a loving home is not always enough. Children who have experienced trauma need to be parented in a special way that helps them feel safe and secure, builds attachments and allows them to heal.
Playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy (PACE) are four valuable elements of parenting that, combined with love, can help children to feel confident and secure. This book shows why these elements are so important to a child's development, and demonstrates to parents and carers how they can incorporate them into their day-to-day parenting. Real life examples and typical dialogues between parents and children illustrate how this can be done in everyday life, and simple stories highlight the ideas behind each element of PACE.
This positive book will help parents and carers understand how parenting with love and PACE is invaluable to a child's development, and will guide them through using this parenting attitude to help their child feel happy, confident and secure.

I am a professional counselor, and my personal goal is to put into my client's hands the most helpful literature I can; this book is my choice for parents who are serious about finding an effective way to connect with their child, and make a change in their lives. The authors have gleaned from the current rich vein of research on the brain to bring practical, understandable, methods to help a child live a full life as a child, an adolescent, and become an effective parent. This book helps the parent make sense out of their own life, which aids them to be fully present to assist their child to make sense out of their life. Five stars are not adequate to express my appreciation for this ground-breaking book which is destined to become a classic.

One of the best parenting books I've read.
By Luis Herrera Recio
I'm a family counselor and I have to say this book is a must have for parents that want to build a strong, healthy relationship that helps their children thrive and be happy. It will help you connect on a deeper level with your child so you can be a better parent. This book clearly explains how to educate with Love and PACE, and how this develops the child's brain in an optimal way so he can build healthy relationships and be the greatest person he can be later in life.
Easy to read, deep, practical, complete, based on scientific studies, especially helpful for adopting and foster parents.
This book blew my mind! And it has changed and improved my parenting.

must-have book on attachment issues
By trideth
This is a great book for both professionals and parents involved in helping children with attachment disorders. It is written in a manner that is very accessible for the lay person, yet the knowledge shared is very profound and can truly make a difference. There is a wonderful understanding for the struggles of parents in feeling up to the task of helping their children. For the professional there are plenty of sources to refer to for additional information/background. This should be a must-have for any parent of a child with attachment issues.
